Josée Marcoux

I was born and raised on a large farm in the Peace country. We had every kind farm animal possible when I was growing up. This upbringing fueled my interest and passion for large animal, which got me involved in 4-H and the Green Certificate Program which I’m still a part of today. This also influenced where I chose to gain my experience, working in my facets of the equine and bovine industry.

I graduated from Lakeland College’s Animal Health Technician program in 2010 and once again from Western Ranch and Cowhorse certificate.
In 2012 I began my academic journey of completing my Pre-Vet through Lakeland College and in Fall of 2013 I transferred to the U of L where I received my BSc in Agricultural Studies. My future goal is to eventually get into Veterinary Medicine and specialize in large animal.

I started working at Family Pet Hospital in January of 2015. I now work full-time overnight shifts! Even though I have a very strong large animal background, my favorite part of working at Family Pet is caring and the treatment of our critically injured or ill patients.

I own 2 APHA mares Fancy and Shimmer, an Australian Shephard Echo and 2 calico cats Abby and Ally. If you can’t tell I love spots!!

As I’m from way up north I love the snow and I’m a very avid snowboarder, going out to Fernie every opportunity I get. The rest of my free time is spent cooking, I love to try new recipes, reading, painting, riding, playing video games, paintballing, and playing tennis. Most of all, I love to travel. In the last year I have gone to Mexico, Vegas, France, and England!
