I grew up on a farm in southern Alberta and received my veterinary education at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon. I am very excited to be in Lethbridge, working with great friends and pursuing my desire to become board certified in feline medicine.
I have a passion for cats and I am grateful to be able to see primarily cats here at Family Pet Hospital. I take a slow approach to my patients – allowing them the time to get to know me and me to know them.
It’s never a good idea to rush a cat. I also enjoy getting to know the family behind those patients! I strive to provide the most up to date and thorough feline medicine and do so in a ‘cat only’ exam room.
I have an extremely supportive and wonderful husband, a young daughter who loves being exposed to veterinary medicine, and a clowder of cats waiting for me at the end of each day. I love to cook for my family and friends and also enjoy photography when I can find the time.

In 2011 I decided to move to Canada, I attended a program for foreign trained veterinarians offered by Bredin Institute in Edmonton in 2013. In 2014 I volunteered at the Edmonton Humane Society and had an amazing experience practicing surgery with both the staff and the animals they treat. In 2015 I joined to Family pet hospital. My fields of interest are emergency and surgery.
In my leisure time I like reading and traveling to fascinating new places with my wife and my daughter.
Dr. Amin Sabzevari, DVM – Internal Medicine, Ophthalmology, Avian and Exotics
I was born and grew up in Iran and obtained my DVM degree in 2010 from Azad University, Iran. I worked in an industrial dairy farm and at a pet clinic before and after graduation and this gave me the opportunity to develop a true feeling of the life of a veterinarian. I very enthusiastically took part in several clinical research projects on different species (hamsters, dogs, cats, horses, donkeys, sheep, ostriches, etc.) which not only led me to publish several articles in peer-reviewed journals but helped me to gain further experience in those specialty areas.
I moved to Canada in 2011 and my diverse background and knowledge base allowed me to begin working as a research assistant with laboratory animals at Toronto General Hospital.
In 2013, I traveled to India for 3 months and started volunteering at the International Humane Society which helped me fine tune my surgical skills. I also had the amazing opportunity to work with elephants there.
In 2014, I completed the VSTEP (Veterinary Skills Enhancement Program) at Ontario Veterinary College, University of Guelph.
I started working at Family Pet Hospital in September 2015 and I am delighted to work with great colleagues in a friendly environment.
I have a great passion for animals and empathy for their owners. I assure you that I will do my best to treat your family member with kindness and give my devoted attention to your concerns.
In my free time, I enjoy jogging, reading books, watching movies and I always love to travel and participate in outdoor activities.

Josée Marcoux, RVT
I was born and raised on a large farm in the Peace country. We had every kind farm animal possible when I was growing up. This upbringing fueled my interest and passion for large animal, which got me involved in 4-H and the Green Certificate Program which I’m still a part of today. This also influenced where I chose to gain my experience, working in my facets of the equine and bovine industry.
I graduated from Lakeland College’s Animal Health Technician program in 2010 and once again from Western Ranch and Cowhorse certificate.
In 2012 I began my academic journey of completing my Pre-Vet through Lakeland College and in Fall of 2013 I transferred to the U of L where I received my BSc in Agricultural Studies. My future goal is to eventually get into Veterinary Medicine and specialize in large animal.
I started working at Family Pet Hospital in January of 2015. I now work full-time overnight shifts! Even though I have a very strong large animal background, my favorite part of working at Family Pet is caring and the treatment of our critically injured or ill patients.
I own 2 APHA mares Fancy and Shimmer, an Australian Shephard Echo and 2 calico cats Abby and Ally. If you can’t tell I love spots!!
As I’m from way up north I love the snow and I’m a very avid snowboarder, going out to Fernie every opportunity I get. The rest of my free time is spent cooking, I love to try new recipes, reading, painting, riding, playing video games, paintballing, and playing tennis. Most of all, I love to travel.
